Thursday April 7th to Wednesday April 13th
I’ll be your nature travel guide for A Wild Mountain Thyme’s Spring 2016 Panhandle Bird Tour. Check out my bio on my Facebook page.
Plan on a week of wilderness, wildlife viewing, fishing, sightseeing, possible kayaking opportunities, interspersed with food, friends and a great location. Learn about the unique ecology of the panhandle and the gulf estuarine system. Birding will be our top priority, but many other opportunities for nature adventure will present themselves.
St. Mark’s National Wildlife Refuge, the Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, Tate’s Hell and the Dwarf Cypress Swamp in The Apalachicola National Forest, various wildlife management areas and state parks are just a few of the field trips planned.
A day in the Historic City of Apalachicola for a great meal out at Up the Creek Raw Bar, The Owl Tap Room, Tamara’s or Boss Oyster and then drinks at the Gibson Inn visiting with locals will round out our visit there.
This trip is for the wild adventurer…there will be a bit of creative maneuvering around regarding sleeping arrangements and meals, however this will be part of the fun!
The property is a bit off the beaten path in Sopchoppy, Florida on the Ochlockonee River. Accommodations are two cabins on a single property for the week of the tour.
The best and easiest arrangements will come on a first come, first served basis, so if you can stand (or lay) in your own bed with others in the same room, this is the trip for you…much like camping but with softened edges!!!!
Space is limited to 9 participants.
Transportation is included to and from Tallahassee Regional Airport Thursday April 7th and Wednesday the 13th, as well as for journeying around the Florida Panhandle.
Cost for the week is $535 includes transportation, accommodations for 6 nights, breakfasts, “boxed lunches”, 4 home cooked dinners (alcoholic beverages not included) and entrance fees into State Parks and National Wildlife Refuges.
A deposit of $200 is due by January 31st. This deposit becomes nonrefundable February 14th 2016.
(The per-day fee to join in any of the daily activities with meals and sleep over is $95.00. For locals or for those unable to stay the week).
